THE PTSD CHILD AND HIS PTSD FATHER

THE PTSD CHILD AND HIS PTSD FATHER

As the father served

The nation served his son

Committed to preserving life at home

Life was taken away

Never knowing his son would make up for his

Inadequacies

On the home-front, unable to walk the isle of Wal-mart

without a flashback of running for cover from the enemy

His son wants to run for cover from another enemy

But as the father returns to duty,

so must the child

to defend not only

his territory

But himself

No one to confide in

No one to rely on

There is no God in war

Everywhere is a battlefield

If only the kids knew what his Dad did

They would not have taunted him

They would not have kneaded him into

Having to listen to
their pleas for mercy

It would not have been too late

for both of them
