What a great day for a funeral

To wonder when the cards will stop equaling

21 or the dice will roll anything other than

a 7

would mean it’s time to hang on

And when the smiley-faced, warm-hearted clerk

suddenly stops greeting you because he just obtained

a once-in-a-lifetime gift from the lottery

would mean it’s time to move on

When your frequent dry cleaner

types the wrong name in the inside of your favorite shirt

lets you know you are different with your clothes off

Boy, what a great day it is for a funeral

You witness racism at the deathbed of the sick

yet they request a priest to give them

their last confession

What could be more painful?

You are at the one sink when the Dalai Lama exits the facility

and he refuses to wait and walks out without washing his hands

On the outside, he shakes hands and even yours without congratulations

Who forgot whose teachings?

The mark of the beast caught you

Though one number off, your reputation became tainted

And right now became 32% instead of the intended 3.9

Such a heavy price to pay for not being alerted

Boy, what a great day it is for a funeral

Pretty is as

Pretty does

Oh so be it

Just because

You wish you may

You wish you might

Maintain your soul

And doing what’s right

Yet as trouble toils

The blood then boils

The lot of the spoils

Atop white-hot coils

Life lived in blinders

Keepers now finders

Losers were weepers

Winners become creepers

A eulogy is spoken

Admonished as a token

Verse becomes a curse

When pulled from a Louis Vuitton purse

Black is the fad

Though white should be mad

Home is where one goes

Truly only Heaven knows

Down below

One goes so slow

As ash becomes trash

It does save much cash

Here, up above

we should cherish the love

Rose-colored visions become a mural

Making it a great day for a funeral
