Okay, I have to admit something. I have blogged now for a little over two years and I really like what I do. I’m not saying that I am a pro at it or anything. It’s just that knowing I put something out there on the World Wide Web is probably going to serve at least one somebody in this wonderful universe of ours. Then, on occasion, somebody may post a comment on my blog either for or against my material. Yes, I do have followers. They may not be great in numbers, but in their commitment they are faithful. And I love them for that.
I don’t try to keep to just one particular format. Although essays or commentary seem to be the big hit with blogs, I often write in prose or just rhythmic poetic verse. However the tense, or tension, there are viewers. Also, there is a need to keep my blog fresh and relevant. Should I voice my opinion about a certain current event, I make it my duty to not directly share any behavior or any other writer. So, in keeping a blog or section fresh, just how many articles are needed to discuss makeup or fashion? I offered my services to The Huffington Post, not that I am an expert on any “particular” thing, but I did offer to write a little prose for them (if they would allow me a tad of space on their vast internet site). Now I have no idea what their turn around is for a member of their team to respond, but I would think that a little more than two weeks is quite long enough for a nay or yea. Many who have commented on my site have asked if they could link certain writes of mine to their site. What an honor! Does it take being a celebrity for The Huffington Post to allow them to post for them?
Don’t get me wrong. This is in no way a sign of jealousy. And I am not foaming at the mouth or trying to spew any negativity in the direction of The Huff Post. After reading many of their articles, it’s also noteworthy to mention that it is novel of The Huffington Post to not delete any of their comments. Many of their readers post comments about articles being “recycled” or even “old news.” Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to witness a breath of fresh air to a very formidable and already popular news medium like The Huffington Post? I don’t just want to post a comment on an article written by someone else. I would like the opportunity to try and reach their faithful followers.
It doesn’t take much to pick up the phone (after being informed that it is necessary when trying to leave a comment for the team to “Contact” you) or even have an e-mail sent to you in response to your request stating: “Thank You for your interest….but…” A little over two weeks now, yet I continue to serve the faithful internet followers. Offering fresh content, whether it is commentary or just plain poetic justice, is what I plan to continue doing. How does one get their own Blog Space on The Huffington Post? Well, I don’t know. But If it takes being a celebrity, I hope they don’t just keep refreshing their content every fifteen minutes.
