The Luxury of Having a Choice to do Nothing

I don’t want to do anything
Let it be my choice knowing
I have the right to submit to
another’s request or to deny it
Will they still be there, later?
Or must I play the game of repentance?
Either way, it is my decision
Brash, Selfish
Words I would use to describe them All
if they put their needs before my own
Wanting company
so different from needing it
Who stands to hurt more
from my “No”?
Should regret rear its head,
then may the price be paid in full
For both sides have sides
that need to be flipped
from time to time
