Black

Rooted.
Whether here or there
From God knows where
A place exists for the tree
Even after pruning
Still a tree
Even after leaves fall
Still a tree
Even if the sun doesn’t shine
Still a tree
Leaves grow back
Though maybe not as high
Still a tree
Even after decorations swung
Still a tree
Remembering the tune
Of a battle-cry song
Still a tree
Even for a hurried refuge
Still a tree
So many memories, dreams, wishes
Divulged below
That is what a tree is for
For where can a tree go to cry
When it can never reach the sky?
Reasons Be
Praise to Thee
Still a tree
